TIMELESS. 2018. Blooming for almost 3 months, this orchid makes the perfect subject for a still life—a form dating back to ancient Greco-Roman art and the Middle Ages. Still lifes typically depict food, flowers, rocks, shells, or man-made items such as books, coins, tools, or jewelry. In floriography, all the rage in the Victorian era, the orchid is associated with Love, Beauty, Refinement, and is a Chinese Symbol for Many Children.

About Gina Harrison
Gina Harrison is a NC artist, graphic designer, musician, and arts ed advocate. She received her BFA in studio art, with an emphasis in printmaking, from UNC-Chapel Hill. Her recent work has been exhibited in Pittsboro, Durham, Cary, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Wilmington, NC. She served as president of the Chatham Artists Guild and is a past president of the Chatham Arts Council. She recently completed two terms as a board member of Arts NC, the statewide advocacy organization for the arts.
