It's Saturday night and everyone's on the floor for King Porter Stomp, and Harlem Shout, and Opus 1—jitterbuggers and servicemen with their girls on leave. On stage the band is hot and the lights glare creating flashes of stars off the horn section punctuating the music in this abstract of Reds, Whites, Blues and Army Greens.
Gina Harrison is a NC artist, graphic designer, and arts ed advocate. She received her BFA in studio art, with an emphasis in printmaking, from UNC-Chapel Hill. Her recent work has been exhibited in Pittsboro, Durham, Cary, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Wilmington, NC. She served as president of the Chatham Artists Guild from 2021 through 2022. She is past president of the Chatham Arts Council and currently serves as a board member of Arts NC, the statewide advocacy organization for the arts.
