Lanvandula augustifolia is the most common and widely cultivated of more than 40 species of Lavender. In addition to its ornamental uses in the garden and in dried arrangements, it is also grown for culinary use and for its essential oils. The ancient Greeks called lavender nardus and it is mentioned in the Bible in the Song of Solomon. —Wikipedia
